slavingia/skills: The Linter for Your Business Model
How a collection of Claude Code slash commands transforms passive business advice into an executable startup operating system.

Claude Code skills based on The Minimalist Entrepreneur by Sahil Lavingia
- This repository converts static business methodology into a functional linter for startup logic.
- The system uses structured Markdown files instead of traditional code to define AI agent behaviors.
- The slash commands function as a state machine that enforces a specific sequence for business growth.
- This project represents a shift from passive business literature to active, executable terminal tools.
Hard-Coding the MVP
Developers love to write code. This is a fatal flaw when building a new business. Usually, founders read business books to learn restraint, only to immediately open their editor and over-engineer a backend. Sahil Lavingia decided to intercept developers where they live.
By turning his book into a set of Claude Code commands, Lavingia created a literal linter for business logic. When a user runs the /mvp command, the AI agent evaluates the codebase against strict minimalist principles. If the project relies on complex microservices instead of simple CRUD operations, the agent pushes back. It is Methodology-as-a-Service, delivered directly to the terminal.
Markdown as the New Source Code
The repository is entirely devoid of traditional executable code. There is no Python or JavaScript. Instead, the .claude-plugin directory relies on highly structured Markdown files.
Each SKILL.md acts as a configuration file for an AI persona. It defines the objective, context, and output constraints. Claude Code parses these files and registers them as native slash commands. This architecture proves that in an agentic ecosystem, carefully crafted text constraints are just as powerful as compiled logic.
The Entrepreneurial State Machine
The commands are not meant to be used randomly. They form a deliberate state machine representing the lifecycle of a startup. A founder cannot proceed to /grow-sustainably without first passing the checks in /first-customers.
Beyond the App Store for Agents
While organizations like Vercel build the infrastructure to distribute tools, Lavingia is focused on the content layer. The value of an AI agent is only as good as the domain expertise it possesses.
| Project | Primary Function | Logic Source |
|---|---|---|
| slavingia/skills | Opinionated business methodology | Human-curated Markdown frameworks |
| vercel-labs/skills | Distribution and installation CLI | TypeScript infrastructure |
| Skill_Seekers | Automated RAG conversion | Scraped web content / AST parsers |
By packaging a bestselling book into a CLI tool, this repository signals a shift. The future of non-fiction business writing might not be a PDF or an audiobook. It might be a GitHub repository that actively prevents you from making bad decisions.
